In this class you will learn about the basic functions of the I-Pad that will help you in everyday life.  You will learn basic I-Pad functions and controls, Siri and about apps.  The student’s own I-Pad will be used.  Class begins September 21.

FRAUD AWARENESS

We are bombarded with phone calls, unwanted emails, scams and fraud schemes from get-rich schemes to medical fraud.  Attempts are made by unscrupulous individuals to steal our money and our identities.  This course will give you suggestions on how we can protect ourselves.  The class offers resources that you can turn to for help.  Class begins November 7.

MEDICARE BASICS: What You Need to Know

MedicareConsumer advocates note that Medicare eligibles get a much better deal if they know the facts.  In this class, participants will learn about the Medicare and Medicare Advantage programs, supplement plans and how to choose the correct Medicare plan.  Topics include the four parts of Medicare (Parts A-D); enrollment periods and how to enroll; the most recent Medicare updates; eligibility requirements for the Medicare Extra Help Program; and community resources available to Medicare eligibles.  This course will help participants currently receiving Medicare as well as those preparing for the future.

THE SLOVAK SPIRIT

Learn about the Slovaks who began emigrating 100 years ago and why they left.  Explore how they faced new challenges in a country where they knew neither the language nor the culture.  Discover how Slovaks embraced America while holding onto their own customs and traditions.  Examine how the Slovak-Americans of today continue to carry on the Slovak legacy and heritage.  Tuition includes cost of materials.  Class will be held December 4th at the Murrysville Community Center, 3091 Carson Ave., Murrysville

WRITING THE PERSONAL NARRATIVE

Writing a novel as a first project is a daunting task.  Many writers find themselves frustrated and never finish.  This course is designed to tackle a smaller project first.  Over three weeks, each participant will write, edit and complete a personal narrative essay.  Students would benefit from having a laptop, personal device or tablet on hand to record notes and ideas.    This class is for beginners to intermediate.  Class begins September 18.
